Hiring Organization Information
Our Family Services (OFS) is the leading provider of homeless services for youth and families in Southern Arizona. OFS also supports families through homelessness prevention assistance, family shelter and a variety of rapid re-housing, transitional housing and affordable housing programs for families and victims of human trafficking. The CEO will have oversight of a staff of about 70 full- and part-time employees, a Board of Directors with 14 members and an annual budget of approximately $6 million. We seek a proven leader with progressive leadership experience and a passion for the mission and vision of Our Family Services. The successful candidate will bring leadership characterized by an ability to garner broad community support, to increase visibility of the organization and to foster an inclusive, positive organizational environment. Experience in housing and shelter services is highly valued. Familiarity with HUD priorities, funding and programs will be required. Responsibilities include: • Administration and Culture. The CEO will lead the development and implementation of annual and long-term plans and strategies that support the organization’s mission and strengthen the organizational culture to maximize staff retention, satisfaction and overall healthy work culture. They will provide overall management and development of staff within the organization to maximize synergies across the agency to achieve long-term goals. This individual will identify the organization’s growth challenges and opportunities; guide organizational design and development to achieve optimal effectiveness and provide leadership and oversight of budget development, financial management, reporting and compliance. • Fund Development. This individual will work with staff and board to devise and realize fundraising plans that help to meet the organization’s mission and strategic initiatives. A focus on building and nurturing relationships with community leaders and supporters will be key. Demonstrated results in fundraising and development, especially in the area of major and capital gifts, is needed while ensuring strong donor stewardship and donor cultivation at all levels. • Community Relations and Advocacy. This leader will expand community support and develop alliances for the organization while advocating for agency program-related public policy positions. They will serve as an effective spokesperson and primary media liaison for the organization; participate in public speaking events; and deliver presentations to current and potential stakeholder groups. The CEO will maintain affiliations and build relationships at the national, state and local levels to enhance organizational collaboration, visibility and expertise. • Board of Directors. The CEO will establish credibility throughout the organization’s stakeholders, including the Board, as an effective developer of solutions to organizational challenges. They will work effectively with the Board President and keep the President informed of actions needed to facilitate agency operations. This individual will act as a liaison between all Board Committees and provide board development and education regarding their governance role and legal requirements. We seek a leader who is able to communicate clearly to both staff and board and who will build teams internally. The successful candidate will be collaborative, communicative and compassionate, with a calm, balanced personality and a problem-solving nature. This individual shall have a servant leader mindset and a lifelong learning approach to develop a cohesive team as well as to mobilize, encourage and build capacity of the staff. A management style that provides autonomy and empowers staff is highly desired. This person will have experience in working closely with a board to further the organization’s strategic initiatives. We seek a leader who has knowledge of, experience and a commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity and access and will incorporate this work into the fabric of the organization. Compensation and Benefits The salary range for this position is between $105,000 and $120,000 and will be commensurable with experience.
