Job Description:
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) leads the organization in fulfilling and advancing the mission of Knapp

including grantmaking, program initiatives, financial management, and administrative matters. The CEO
provides effective supervision, delegation, and accountability of staff, and works closely with the Board in
setting strategic direction and assembling support for Foundation initiatives and community partnerships. The
CEO serves as an active and visible liaison to the community and collaborates with other philanthropic leaders
locally, regionally, and nationally.
We seek a proven and visionary philanthropic leader who demonstrates a strong ability to work collaboratively
with KCCF’s current and future grantee partners and an experienced leader in developing strong working
relationships in the community, including government, nonprofit, philanthropic, and private sector leadership.
The ability to build trust-based relationships with other funders and partners for greater impact in the MidValley is a must.
KCCF’s next leader will contribute to the vision and thought leadership in the field of philanthropy by
demonstrating a willingness and ability to shape community discussions around the issues impacting KCCF
stakeholders. In addition to working with Board and staff on grant program management strategies and
systems, the next KCCF executive will understand the importance of accountability and evaluation
management by demonstrating how KCCF might integrate a robust evaluation component into its existing
grants program.
Strong business acumen and a proven financial management track record will be key for KCCF’s next leader.
The successful candidate will demonstrate his/her experience in working with a Board and staff on wealth
management and financial management systems, processes, and strategies that are efficient, and effective,
and leverage other philanthropic dollars to the area.
The successful candidate will be naturally creative, entrepreneurial, and innovative in how KCCF approaches its
work to improve the health of Mid-Valley families. An inquiry-based work style focused on continuous learning,
leadership development, and professional staff growth will be important for integrating with and leading
KCCF’s strong board and staff teams. The successful candidate’s career path will demonstrate exceptional
interpersonal skills and a focus on building community while leading organizational change.
The ability to communicate exceptionally well in oral and written form is necessary for success in this position.
This leader is an active listener and a creative problem solver who is politically savvy, patient, collaborative,
and builds consensus. As the key spokesperson for KCCF, this person must be able to speak extemporaneously
and appropriately on any number of subjects in a clear and transparent fashion in order to achieve authorized
voice and power among all stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be bilingual in Spanish and English.
The ideal candidate will show a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and will demonstrate an
understanding of the socioeconomic needs and issues affecting South Texas. The ideal candidate will exhibit a
high level of participation in the life of the Rio Grande Valley through current or future involvement. A
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years in nonprofit, public administration, philanthropy, or related field
are required. An advanced degree and/or continuing education/certification is preferred.
