Communications and Events Manager Job Description Status: Full Time Exempt Reports to: Chief Partnerships Officer The T.D. Jakes Foundation (TDJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building bridges to opportunity for underserved populations by providing access to the skills and resources needed for success in the modern workplace. The Position: Reporting to the Chief Partnerships Officer and serving as a member of the Partnerships team, the Communications and Events Manager plans and coordinates internal and external communications and events that fulfill T.D. Jakes Foundation’s mission, enhance the Foundation’s reputation, reinforce brand-to-partner experience, and serve its key constituents and beneficiaries. As part of the Partnerships team, the Communications and Events Manager works closely with the Chief Partnerships Officer and the Development Director, as well as engaging with the Programs team, including the Chief Program Officer and the Program Manager for events in support of the STEAM Academy, PATHWAY and other programs of the Foundation. In addition, the Communications and Events Manager works with and supports the activities of the Foundation’s executive communications strategist/consultant with the external PR firm, and as part of the Brand Expansion/Marketing/PR team that represents and supports all the entities within the T.D. Jakes brand. Candidates must bring a “can-do” attitude and enjoy working as an integral member of a small but mighty team that supports the mission and vision of T.D. Jakes Foundation to be the bridge connecting underserved and underrepresented communities to life-changing opportunities. Responsibilities: Communications • Participates in the design of strategic annual communications and events plan for the Foundation • Manages implementation of internal and external communications plans for the Foundation’s partnerships, programs and events • Produces materials for partnership solicitations, sponsorships, partner programming and activations • Coordinates and supports the activities of the executive communications strategist with the external PR firm and assigned activities of the Brand Expansion/Marketing/PR team that represents all entities within the T.D. Jakes brand • Manages content and timely updates of the Foundation website; manages relationship with website developer/digital service provider • Compiles and manages library of content on and for external channels with the external PR firm and internal digital team; channels include social media, blogs/vlogs, podcasts, YouTube Event Management • Conducts short- and long-term planning and management of all TDJF events • Develops, recommends and tracks budgets, marketing objectives, and key results for all TDJF events • Contributes to the development of event marketing and revenue generation plans in cooperation with the TDJF, T.D. Jakes Ministries and The Potter’s House Brand Expansion/Communications/Marketing/PR team • Assembles creative and innovative event attractions, partner activations, specialty advertising and visual assets to maximize brand visibility, partner satisfaction, and constituent engagement • Identifies, retains and works with key external vendors (a/v and set producers, venues, caterers, specialty advertising manufacturers, signage manufacturers, etc.) and internal partners (for video, photography, use of TPH venue, TPH on-site catering, etc.) • Works closely with the Partnership team to develop and produce customized benefits and engagement programs for key partners that align the Foundation’s events with the partner’s specific goals and desired impact Experience and Knowledge: • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, including writing, speaking and active listening • Experience in producing public relations, advertising, marketing and sponsorship materials • Ability to effectively engage and coordinate with team members of all levels and across departments • Strong project management skills, including time management, goal-setting, multitasking and prioritization • Proven ability and experience in delivering exceptional customer service • Experience in managing budgets, marketing objectives, relationships with vendors and internal partners • Experience in design, planning and management for events ranging from 50 to 2,000+ persons • Flexibility and demonstrated ability to manage events across a broad array of environments – from convention centers and hotels to non-traditional venues Skills and Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising, PR or hospitality, or related experience. • 3-7 years experience in a senior role in an agency, communications department, event management or hospitality environment • Proficient with MS Office and Sharepoint • Team player; versatile and dedicated contributor to collective succes
