Summary: The Senior Program Officer assists in strategically developing, managing and evaluating a portfolio of grants and initiatives aligning to MHM goals. The Senior Program Officer assists/advises nonprofit organizations through the entire application and reporting process, from concept development through evaluation results. He/she is expected to develop and maintain a variety of relationships in the community, including regional funders, demonstrating tact and diplomacy. Essential Duties: Monitors a strategically themed and aligned portfolio, ensuring strong relationships with funded partners, programmatic accountability and compliance with the grant agreement and goals. Supports the development of trust-based grantmaking by understanding key tenets and best practices. Identifies, cultivates and maintains strong relationships and communication with a variety of external partners ensuring key stakeholders and MHM staff are kept appropriately informed and engaged, timely and consistently. Develops and manages a diverse portfolio of partners who are addressing the social determinants of health and systemic barriers to achieving health equity. Serves as a key point of contact and source of expertise for MHM’s work with partners and coalitions, including leading working groups, delivering presentations and coordinating trainings as needed. Develops and manages project scopes and schedules, ensuring deadlines and deliverable commitments are met. Assists grantees with the development, evaluation and revision of program-specific deliverables and outcomes, grant agreements, reporting requirements, compliance requirements, and other information. Conducts evaluative site visits and program audits to build and maintain positive grantee relationships while reviewing grantee program impact, compliance, and opportunities for capacity building. Develops shared metrics and deliverables across a strategic portfolio, to determine whether a strategy is effective. Looks for potential connections among partners and develop collaborative grant projects, increasing the impact of MHM’s investments. Compiles and analyzes information to support assessment, evaluation, and reporting program progress. Produces statistical and program reports for leadership use with the Board of Directors and Board Committees. Assists with determining the type of investments MHM may want to pursue, and which investments would have the greatest community impact. Makes recommendations for strategically aligned grantmaking opportunities. Stays current on grantmaking evolving practices and works to incorporate best practices into MHM’s work. Works closely with MHM Accounting Department on details of grant terms and compliance. Serves as a connector, working with public and private entities, grantees, and other stakeholders to expand MHM’s positive impact on health outcomes and grantee capacity. Interacts appropriately with all levels of staff, including Directors and CEOs. Represents MHM at community meetings and events as needed. Mentors/coaches team members as needed.
