UBIT Coalition Sign-on Letter

The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act requires organizations to pay a 21 percent federal tax on the cost of employee transportation benefits, including transit and parking, and to calculate unrelated income streams in a way that increases tax burden. At the recommendation of Philanthropy Southwest’s engaged public policy committee, the Philanthropy Southwest Board of Directors recently voted to join associations from across the nation in signing a joint letter asking Congress to repeal the undue and burdensome UBIT on tax-exempt organizations.
