AC 2022 Breakout Session: Supporting Hispanic Mental Health

Publication date:
February, 2023

Philanthropy Southwest, with the generous support of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, launched its Latinx Mental Health Learning Collaborative in fall 2020. PSW in partnership with the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute commissioned a study focused on Latinx communities facing mental health challenges that have been exacerbated by the global pandemic and existing social determinants of health. After two years of learning, this session will present the study’s recommendations to support effective and scalable initiatives for Latinx mental health. During this session, participants will learn: (1) the methodology used in convening a funder learning collaborative and conducting a national survey to help identify priority areas and strategic approaches to funding Latinx mental health; (2) a suggested framework for funders to use to support impactful grantmaking strategies in Latinx mental health; and (3) promising practices around Latinx mental health that can be scaled beyond North Texas and in other communities throughout the U.S. Southwest.

Panelists:

  • Rebecca Brune, Chief Strategy Officer and Regional Exectuive Director, Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute
  • Tauane Araujo Cruz, Director of Community Health Improvement, Texas Health Resources
