Victor and Joe Stanzel established the Stanzel Family Foundation in 1989 to award renewable scholarships to deserving college students. This year, the Foundation funded six scholarships for the Licensed Vocational Nursing – Transition Program at Blinn College (Brenham, Texas), which accepts Licensed Vocational Nurses and prepares them to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses in one year. The scholarships help students defray the cost of the board exam and the Board of Nursing application. “It’s very intense, but the program allows them to become registered nurses in a short period of time,” said Rebecca Presswood, ADN site coordinator. “These students know exactly what they want and they have already been nursing for a while. They are very driven students.”
