PSW Member Casey Family Programs recently conducted a briefing and discussion on The Family First Prevention Services Act - a landmark change to child welfare financing that could have a major positive effect on the lives of children. The new legislation focuses more on prevention and providing family supports and community resources while viewing foster care as an intervention of last resort. Casey Family Programs is an operating foundation working to reduce the number of children in foster care. They are beginning to develop a 2-year strategy that will focus on helping with implementation of the new law.
